I have 4 children aged 11, 12, 15 and 17. The oldest two have Aspergers. I worked in finance for all of my child-free life but when my children were all at school I started helping out at their school and then retrained to be a teaching assistant. I now have the privilege of working with many children with various special needs.
I joined the Forum because I know firsthand how frustrating the system can be, especially with hidden disabilities. I want to make a difference for other families so that they don’t feel that they are reinventing the wheel when they are looking for help and support. I believe the Forum is a big, positive step in making sure that we are all working together to make the system better.
