Parent Carer Forum Jersey calls for parents to share their experience of the Record of Need process

Parents are invited to share their experience of the Record of Need (RoN) process to help make improvements, particularly the points of parental involvement.  This will be by attending a parent workshop on Monday 29 April 7-9pm at Pip’s Place.

Recognising the RoN process needs improving, The Education Department hopes that the workshop can clarify whether the process experienced by those attending matches that of the Department.

It aims to identify gaps, opportunities for better communication and an improved parental experience/follow up.

There will be a presentation ‘Walk through’ of the current RoN process from Exceptional Action to Annual Review.

In small groups, using direct parent experience of the RoN process, the evening will ask parents to explore questions like: Do you understand the terminology used? What you would like to see change/improve?

This is an opportunity for parents to share their experience of the RoN process to help improve the support children and young people receive and in doing so, enabling the Department to fulfill its hope to become more transparent.
